According to MMA insider “Front Row Brian,” Strikeforce lightweight contender Josh Thomson has injured his PCL and may be out of his May 19th bout with Strikeforce Lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez.

According to Brian, the next likely candidate for the title, Pat Healy, wouldn’t be ready in time, moving any title defense for Melendez until their July 14th, Portland, Oregon card.

Luke Rockhold Defends Strikeforce Middleweight Title Against Tim Kennedy on 7/14

Luke Rockhold will defend his Strikeforce Middleweight title against top contender Tim Kennedy at the July 14th card in Portland, Oregon according to Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker.

Kennedy has been out of action since a July 30, 2011 win over Robbie Lawler. An elbow injury took him out of a bout with Rockhold this past January.

After news broke on Monday that UFC Bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz tore his ACL and is out of his UFC 148 title defense against Urijah Faber, the former WEC Featherweight champ spoke about the injury and his hopes for an interim title shot.

UFC on Fox 3: Diaz vs. Miller Brings in 2.25 Million Viewers

With none of the star power of previous UFC on FOX events, this past weekend’s UFC on FOX 3: Diaz vs. Miller raked in lower ratings than their previous efforts.

According to reports, 2.25 million viewers tuned in on Saturday, to see Nate Diaz earn his lightweight title shot in a defeat of NJ’s own Jim Miller. This result sees four million viewers than those who watched the first two UFC on FOX events, but there was good news despite losing the ratings war to “48 Hours Mystery”: the event earned the key demo of adults 18-49.

The card could also have been effected by the lack of football which clearly contributed to a strong lead-in for both previous events.

Is putting Lombard’s 25-fight winning streak against the All American going to draw in the numbers that Fox would want? More importantly, is this a “big enough” fight to headline that card?
