Shane del Rosario Passes Away – UFC Heavyweight Dead at Age 30
by Scott "Kubryk" Sawitz on December 10, 2013

At one point he might’ve been the best heavyweight prospect in MMA, someone Strikeforce had lined up to face Daniel Cormier in what was supposed to be a matchup of the two best prospects at that weight class. A car accident later and del Rosario was fighting for his life. It was announced today that the UFC heavyweight has died after suffering cardiac arrest a short while ago.

Two losses in the UFC later and del Rosario was prepping to face Guto Inocente on December 28, 2013 at UFC 168. He would withdraw due to an injury and went into cardiac arrest at the end of November. He’d never recover from the coma it left him in.

The Inside Fights family extends our deepest condolences to del Rosario’s family in this time of need.
