Amir Sadollah injured, Nah-Shon Burrell named as replacement against Stephen Thompson at UFC 160
by Ryan Frederick on April 4, 2013

The UFC’s traditional Memorial Day Weekend event has undergone a change to the card as season seven winner of ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ Amir Sadollah (6-4, 6-4 UFC) has been forced out of the event due to an injury. Replacing him will be Nah-Shon Burrell (9-2, 1-0 UFC) who will now take on Stephen Thompson (6-1, 1-1 UFC) in a preliminary card bout.

UFC officials announced the switch on Wednesday.

Burrell will be fighting for the second time in the UFC following his transition over from the Strikeforce promotion. Burrell fought at UFC 157 in February where he scored a unanimous decision win over Yuri Villefort in the night’s opening bout. Burrell is 7-1 over his last eight fights with the lone loss coming to Chris Spang in his final Strikeforce bout.

Thompson has been out of action for close to a year due to injuries. Thompson was last seen at UFC 145 last April where he suffered the first loss of his career, dropping a decision to Matt Brown. Prior to the setback, Thompson had won all six of his professional bouts including a highlight-reel head-kick knockout of Dan Stittgen at UFC 143 in Feburary 2012. He was slated to meet Besam Yousef at UFC 154 in November before a knee injury sidelined him.

UFC 160 takes place May 25 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Cain Velasquez defends the UFC Heavyweight Championship against Antonio Silva in the night’s main event.
