UFC 156 Prelims: Highest Rated Broadcast for UFC On FX
by Ryan Frederick on February 7, 2013

This past weekend’s UFC 156 preliminary fights broadcast on FX set a record as it became the most-viewed UFC broadcast on FX since their inception in 2012.

UFC 156 Prelims delivered 1.897 million viewers, which beat the all-time record set just two weeks ago with UFC On FX: Belfort vs. Bisping, which recorded 1.857 million viewers. It also bested the previous record holder for UFC PPV prelims broadcast on FX, which was UFC 148 in July at 1.8 million viewers.

The broadcast was filled with mainly battles between UFC and former Strikeforce fighters and was capped off with a lightweight fight between Evan Dunham and Gleison Tibau. It also bodes well for potential pay-per-view numbers for UFC 156, which was headlined by Jose Aldo retaining the UFC Featherweight Championship over Frankie Edgar.

Through 14 pay-per-view preliminary broadcasts on FX, the UFC has averaged 1.261 million viewers.
