Maybe Pulling Out Of Strikeforce’s Final Events Was A Good Idea After All – Gilbert Melendez To Get Title Shot
by Scott "Kubryk" Sawitz on January 14, 2013

Gilbert Melendez angered a lot of people, most notably Pat Healy, by withdrawing from the past several Strikeforce cards because of a lingering shoulder injury. It apparently paid off for him as multiple outlets are reporting that Melendez has received his first fight in the UFC.

Melendez is getting a shot at Benson Henderson on the San Jose Fox card for the UFC lightweight title at April 20′s UFC on FOX 7.

No confirmation from the UFC or either Melendez and Henderson at this point.
