Steve Carl Injured, Jay Hieron vs. Anthony Lapsley at Bellator 35
by Chris Roberts on February 11, 2011

Steve Carl, a veteran of Bellator’s season 2 welterweight tournament, has been forced out of his upcoming bout against Jay Hieron due to an undisclosed injury. With only three weeks notice Anthony Lapsley has stepped up to the plate and enter the season 4 welterweight tournament. Lapsley, a veteran of ShoXC, HDNet Fights, and King of the Cage, competed in the inaugural Bellator season as he fought and defeated Ryan Williams. He has not lost a fight since then and is currently on a 4 fight win streak.

He will face stiff competition in Jay Hieron who is in the midst of his own, even longer win streak that stretches back to 2007 and encompasses seven wins. Most recently he was seen at Strikeforce: Miami on the bout that was streamed live over the internet. There he dominated Joe Riggs and won a decisive unanimous decision over him.

The March 5th event will kick off Bellator’s 4th season and their first on MTV2. It takes place at the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino in Lemoore, California.
