a boxer's reaction to blood being drawn during training

from boxing talk
daily bread

In the spirit of being fair, I called a respected trainer out of Philly named Kenny Mason today. He trains one of the best young prospects in the city by name of Julian Williams. I asked him had Williams ever had any blood work done before training and/or fighting and if so did it affect his performance. He told me that Williams had small amounts of blood taken from him twice in the past and sparred the same day and both times he looked horrible.

If that’s the case, then it’s understandable because multiple blood samples being taken during his training would prevent him from performing at an optimal level for too long a time during camp.

this blood test "contractual" demand by floyd and GBP is hypocritical and discriminatory.

when zab judah asked that mosley go through a stringent blood testing before their fight (which was later cancelled) this was what Schaefer of GBP said;

“Whatever tests they (the Nevada Athletic Commission) want them to take, Shane will submit to that,”

“We are not going to do other tests than the Nevada commission requires. The fact is Shane is not a cheater and he does not need to be treated like one.”

so, shane is not a cheater? but pacman is?

are they going to blood test him (mosley) this time (against berto?)no! did they blood test julio cesar chavez jr in his fights? no! mayorga? no! vargaz? no roy jones? no!

these people were documented ped/hgh/epo users!

this is typical american hypocrisy.

If the testing for EPO and HGH you have described is that complicated, then much more Floyd can't insist it contractually.

It has to be studied first and implemented above board for all of the professional boxers out there -- NOT JUST FOR PACQUAIO --, or PBF since he is the one who is requested such test.

There are too much issues to solve first -- Not just, hey Pacquiao, do the test to prove you're innocent. That's idiocy.

If is just on contractual basis, then Pacquiao has all the rights to reject it. It's now the fault of coward PBF to demand things he should not have demanded in the first place.

BTW, who fabricated such false accusations, is it not the Mayweathers themselves?

You're right Pacquiao is innocent until proven guilty. The case is in the court now, Mayweathers will be given their chance to prove their allegations in court.

Bye bye $40M.

how come all of the saddened maywather have so many request? when he fought marquez, he was over the weight requirements and shane mosley was protected by GBP regarding a blood test. obviously when it comes to a black man, it's okay and no questions ask. now, i think that manny is being targeted because he's an asian. how come that the americans are being biased? make it a mandatory blood testing to all the boxers and not just for manny, because it's injustice. stop making a fiasco and a mockery. paul magno, the only thing i can say to you is, you're "GAGO AND SIRA!"
