Two years ago, no one would have predicted that Manny Pacquiao could move up in weight, and seemingly get better. It’s the thing that fairy tales are made of. Which is why Manny Pacquiao’s story has been so enticing. He has made the impossible seem possible.
The recent posturing over drug testing in the negotiations for Pacquiao’s next fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. have cast a cloud of doubt over Pacquiao’s legacy. It hasn’t started storming yet, and there is a great possibility that all this could just blow over, but the skies are suddenly not so sunny.
Pacquiao began his career in 1995 and weighed in at 106 pounds. He won his first world title in 1998 at 112 pounds. Manny’s exciting style endeared him to fans as he became a must-see fighter in the mid-2000s. Manny took on the best boxers the 130-pound division had to offer: Erik Morales, Juan Manuel Marquez, Marco Antonio Barrera. He seemed to fear no one and was constantly driven by the next challenge.
Since 2008, Manny Pacquiao has fought at 135 lbs, 140 lbs, and 147 lbs. He has maintained his power without losing any of his speed. He was able to take the best shots from bigger men like Oscar De La Hoya and Miguel Cotto, even though Pacquiao has been no stranger to the canvas in the past. He’s been knocked out twice and been knocked down or staggered by fighters such as Juan Manuel Marquez and Marco Antonio Barrera. So how is it that Pacquiao can move up in weight and only seem to get better?
Floyd Mayweather’s team believe they have the answer.
The Mayweather camp is insisting that both men subject themselves to Olympic-style drug testing overseen by the United States Anti-Doping Agency. Mayweather’s father, Floyd Mayweather Sr., has accused Manny of using illegal substances even though Manny Pacquiao has never failed a drug test.
The urine tests issued by boxing commissions don’t detect everything. Shane Mosley admitted to injecting himself with EPO, a performance-enhancing drug linked to endurance, to a grand jury during the BALCO trial in 2003. Shane Mosley did not fail his drug tests issued by the boxing commission.
The Steroid Era of Major League Baseball has proven that countless offenders can pass a drug test. Baseball players from Jose Canseco to Alex Rodriguez have admitted to using illegal substances, although neither were suspended for failing a drug test.
Bob Arum, Pacquiao’s promoter, had the following to say regarding the issue of drug testing for the fight:
“Let’s be very clear on the real issues we differ on. It’s not about being tested. Manny is onboard with that since it’s such a major concern of Floyd Mayweather, Jr. It’s about who does the testing and the scheduling of the procedures. Manny will submit to as many random urine tests requested. Regarding the blood tests, he will subject himself to three tests; one given in January during the week the fight is formally announced, one thirty days from the fight, no later than February 13, and the final one immediately following the fight, in Manny’s locker room. The major issue related to the testing rests with which independent agency will administer these tests. The United States Anti Doping Agency (USADA) cannot do it because they will not amend its procedures to accommodate the blood testing schedule we have outlined. USADA, under its guidelines, would have the right to administer random blood tests as many times as they want up to weigh-in day and that is ludicrous.”
This is paranoia at its finest. Mayweather believes Pacquiao is on the juice even though he’s never failed a drug test. Pacquiao believes a tablespoon of blood taken less than 48 hours before his fight will weaken him. Arum believes an athlete should be able to set the dates for his own drug test.
Bob Arum is simply doing what a boxing promoter does. He’s looking out for his own man’s best interests. If Arum was representing Floyd in this fight, then he would be touting the legitimacy of the USADA and claiming that Pacquiao must have something to hide if he doesn’t want to submit to their tests.
Everyone is wrong here, but Mayweather’s demands are the least ridiculous.
Mayweather realizes that Pacquiao has never failed a drug test, so he wants an outside agency to handle the testing. He recommends the USADA, which can offer the most comprehensive tests to ensure both men are clean for the fight. Pacquiao has refused, citing superstition as his reasoning for backing out of a fight that is estimated to earn him $30 million.
Most people would throw a black cat through a mirror while walking under a ladder for $30 million. It’s absurd to think that this is the reason that the fight may not happen. And if you are on the side that thinks Paqcuiao is taking illegal substances, this only adds fuel to your fire.
Pacquiao demanded Mayweather pay $10 million for every pound he comes in over the weight limit, should Mayweather come in heavy for the fight. The monetary value is arbitrary. Its intent is to keep Floyd from coming in overweight and it is a just demand. Mayweather should not be allowed to come in over the contractual weight limit. Pacquiao’s camp made the provisions they felt were necessary to keep the fight on an even level, no matter how ludicrous it sounds.
Mayweather’s camp feels that Pacquiao may not be a drug-free fighter so they recommend the USADA conduct the drug tests. It seems far less ludicrous than $10 million per pound, yet it is the one roadblock separating Pacquiao-Mayweather from becoming Pacquiao-Malignaggi.
If Pacquiao has something to hide, then this fairy tale we’ve been watching for the last two years comes to a tragic end.
Facebook comments:
It is foolish to compare the weight demand versus the drug testing demand in support to an argument. The Pacquiao camp has every right to demand a $10M fine because Mayweather, on his last fight, came two pounds heavier than the weight limit and “refused” to give it up. Instead, he settled to paying the $600k fine and get that weight advantage. He has a “history” of foul play so making that demand is only just.
Pacquiao, on the other hand, never failed a drug test. And even though you argue that some other athletes are able to slip through the testing, it is still unreasonable and without proper merit to treat an athlete guilty without being proven so. You, the Mayweathers, and everyone else who fault Pacquiao for not wanting to take the test have already, simply put, put on the “guilty” verdict on him–without any proof. The only basis to your claim is a statement from a high school dropout and convicted drug addict who claims that he has not seen a fighter go up in weight and still win, therefore he is taking illegal drugs.
Well, after all, your name says it all about you…Pusey!

manny should give in to this coward’s demand. but i tell you, mayweather’s blood will be on the canvass even if he gets a decision win. packy should give all the leverage and win (which i don’t believe will happen)which real legends are made of. a coward to the strong, a tyrant to the weak.
Superstition? I think the writer is dumb. I believe Pacquiao just dont want to be disturb during his training with the random blood testing. Whenever the USADA will take blood from him during training, it will affect his focus and concentration for he is the ‘defendant’ or the ‘accused’ in a baseless and malicious accusation. Floyd is a former olympian who is so used to the procedure and Manny is not. Big advantage for Floyd psychologically. Pacquiao will be fighting an American on american soil with american officials and judges. Now Floyd wants the americans too to touch his body and take blood from him during his training? Will Floyd agree too that if he is fighting a Chinese in China with Chinese officials, he will let the Chinese too to touch his body and take blood? Wake up fellow Americans!
The writer should show to the readers where and when Pacman actually said he’s superstitious. Dumb f%#k! Idiots will say anything to sell their dumb opinion.
Trent, It’s a matter who would you trust, a proven cheater or somebody who has never proven to have cheated.
Mayweather is a cheat not Pacquiao. He cheated Marquez when he came to the ring 2 lbs over weight. What does cheaters think? Continue to cheat and accuses somebody else of being a cheater. Obviously, Mayweather was thinking of cheating Pacquiao by asking a wiggle room for the weight. Since he will be fined $10 million if he comes over weight, he demanded Pacquiao’s blood as he know blood test can ruin Pacquiao’s training and performance
idiot,
the only question that matter if they want to test Pacquiao is – what drug can not be traced 5 minutes after the fight that is present 1 day before the fight?
Pacquiao agreed to it, isn’t that good enough pussy?
its about principle not money! if he gives in, am sure there is another demand and it goes on and on.
haha, Pacman will be a congressman, a lawmaker.
Isn’t the Nevada State Commission test approved by law ? He will abide by the law.
Is Mayweather bigger than Nevada ? Of course not, he is even broke. He can request for the law to be changed, and Nevada can sue Mayweather and Golden Boy too for putting them and all fights beforehand into question.
In addition, Pacman team can sue for $20million, sure win, sure money. Then he can go on to fight Mosley or Berto or Bradey.
If I were you Mr. Pusey, I would be careful with words like “If Pacquiao has something to hide…” These are the same sentences that me as a reader would be inclined to interpret you as saying Pacquiao has something to hide! Remember there’s no history of Pacquiao testing positive for steroids.
“then this fairy tale we’ve been watching for the last two years ‘comes’ to a tragic end.” – You mean the Pacquaio fairy tale we’ve been watching has come to an end already? Is he already proven on steroid?
You as a writer has a responsibility to your readers all over the world to present your article as clearly and as accurately as posible.
NO DEAL on the USADA tests because Travis Tygart is affiliated with Floyd Sr. The Mayweathers could and would bribe the USADA to taint Manny’s blood and his reputation would be ruined forever!
to Mr. Trent Pusey…I think you’re a PUSSY!
Its common sense why change rule of blood testing for 1 fight only? Since they know blood test is better than urine test why they did not done it before. I think this is racist because pacquiao is not american.
Golden Boy Promotion even reject blood testing when Judah request it on Mosley on 2008. If they want blood testing they should do it to everybody.
I wish i can let pacman use my american passport or else this will never happen because to many American writer are bias about there opinion.
Pacquiao is definitely a cheater that’s why is not doing the test. Coward!!!!Cheater!!!
@ TRENT PUSSY:
YOU’RE ONE OF THE MOST STU PID WRITERS I’VE EVER READ. YOUR ARTICLE SMELLS MAYWEATHER’S SHI T! YOU’RE A VERY VERY UNANALYTICAL JOURNALIST TODAY.
The author of this article is dumb. What’s the difference between taking the blood test right after the fight and a few hours before? If Pacquiao doesn’t want to be tested a few hours befor then surely he would still be found guilty if indeed used PED by testing him right after the fight!! And if indeed he took PED then take away the win from him or his belt. Whatever.
I hope Pacman sue everyone who accuse him and he has the last laugh. Imagine making easy money to this baseless and no proof accuser.
This Mr Pussy writer trying to make money for accusing someone else without proof should be punish too.
Bring some proof 1st that Pacman is using illegal drugs before you sentence him guilty.
Mr Pussy Your really a Pussy lol
The point the author is making is that Manny should not be able to say when he takes the drug test. Random drug testing is fair but Pacman wants to do it on his own terms, which is not fair.
And to the man that wanted proof that Manny is superstitious about drug tests, that is what bob arum said three days ago when this news started.
I just hope all this goes away so we can finally watch them fight.
Floyd Mayweather started his fighting career at 106 lbs too, just like Pacman. He even fought Oscar dela Hoya at 154 lbs. So he, of all people, should know that fighters can go up in weight and still win. Stop the hypocrisy Floyd!
Mr Pussy, Pacman doesn’t take steroids but he has amulet …is that illegal…dumb as you are if you can prove that pacman is positive taking amulet embedded inside his body then this fairy tale will end until then STFU…..Mr. Pussy aint you related to the Gayweather’s your name are synonymous.
give a nigga an inch,,, that nigga’s going to try to take a foot…give in to no demands regardless…its a matter of principal, i thought you were innocent until proven guilty? i guess that only applies to americans huh?
Mr. Trent Pusey,
You have the notion that everything revolves around money. And everything can be bought with money.
Therein lies your difference with Pacquiao…
You will never understand… so shut up!
What you failed to mention in your article is Pac is willing to pay Floyd $10 million if he came in steroid positive. You also failed to mention what will happen to ALL other boxing fights. That anyone who didn’t take the USADA tests are all juicing up? In any case boxing is in trouble.
another moron. ha ha ha. dream on you pusey jerk together with the mayweathers.
This is one example of a writer who does not gather facts and just simply write. Dumb writer. You are a jerk.
Writers should at least know a little of law. Here’s why:
It is not for Manny Pacquiao to prove his innocence. Delahoya and the mayweathers should provide evidence that Pacquiao is into steroids or whatever. This is the principle of Pacquiao’s lawsuit.
Meanwhile, it is not just superstition. It is more of principle. Since when does the fighter make the rules?
One of the dummiest writter I’ve ever seen. Arum clearly said that it’s not about being tested. It’s about how the test will be done. Mayweather wants Pacquiao to be tested any time any day and that means they can draw blood from Pacquiao every day and every hour even during his sleep. Now writer, do you think that won’t disrupt Pacquaio’s training. You don’t even know how it is to be a fighter. And drawing blood right after the fight in the locker room, is enough to catch Pacquiao if he is using steroids and by the way, my job is to test blood sample everyday.
Another pussy writer!!!
Hereunder is the kind of writer who knows his law. Check this out:
http://www.8countnews.com/news/125/ARTICLE/2173/2009-12-25.html
i cant believe you are in line with the mayweathers and gbp with this. forn years its always has been urinhe tests, now since its pacman you want blood tests too. Not only that you want it anytime, anywhere even during fight day? common, when was the last time blood was taken from you guys. and you’re not even sweating a lot like pacman does when he trains. certainly blood extractions dont make one stronger. not to mention the psychological effects of the process. some people like myself gets nervous when undergoing blood extraction. not to mention that some phlebotomists dont hit their target 100%. what if they miss mannys vein and hits his muscle, bone, nerve and so on. besides, ammend the procedures of the nevada commission for the boxers to have blood tests in addtion to or in lieu of th urine tests first before pacman should agree. mayweather is not the boss here. let the nevada commission tell pacman to take the test and he will agree. but never to floyd
its principle at stake here.If manny is on PED, he could simply stop using it for this fight. If he feels he could not handle floyd, just take a dive, go home with 30M+ in his pocket… and never he should have allowed all this garbage rumor blows out of proportion. But the thing is manny is clean and he should stand by that no matter what other people would say.If u r pacman and somebody ask u to be run over by a car to see if u r really human, will u do it just to satisfy all these cheaters and idiots! get lost gayweather and all of ur F@<i<^6 followers!
Both pacman and pbf starter boxing at the same weight and currently fighting at welter. So what’s is suspicious about the pacman? I guess he is just so amazing that first world boxers couldn’t accept that they have been upstaged by such. And what is the difference anyway between testing a day before the fight and one immediately after? Nothing, they would both have the result after the fight is done. I guess we should test pbf if he still has a human heart or that of a chicken.
An article i read shows the weight of pacquiao during his fights from 130 lbs division to 147 lbs division. His weight during the fight is between 144 lbs to 148 lbs. So he is fighting at his natural weight therefore he never lost his speed and power at 147 lbs.
Mayweather is also doing that. he is not fighting too far from his natural weight during a fight.
How about this.
Promoter balked at blood testing for Mosley in 2008
By J. Michael Falgoust, USA TODAY
Just last year, Golden Boy Promotions was against blood testing when one of its fighters, Shane Mosley, was asked to submit to it for a fight in Las Vegas.
Mosley, who admitted to taking designer steroids in 2003 inadvertently before a fight with Golden Boy president Oscar De La Hoya, consented to any form of drug testing before facing Zab Judah but the promoter objected.
Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer told AP at the time that he’d consent to whatever testing that was required by Nevada State Athletic Commission and nothing more. The NSAC tests urine before and after fights but not blood at random like the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency.
A proposed March 13 superfight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather has fallen through over Olympic-style drug testing. Mayweather wanted the Filipino to accept random blood testing by USADA. Pacquiao agreed to three tests, including two before their bout.
“Whatever tests they want them to take, Shane will submit to that. We are not going to do other tests than the Nevada commission requires,” Schaefer said. “The fact is Shane is not a cheater and he does not need to be treated like one.”
Judah wanted testing immediately on Mosley as well as right before and after the bout. Judah was injured before the fight could take place and it was cancelled.
Mosley, who is facing Andre Berto on Jan. 30, is a potential future opponent for Pacquiao
This writer should also be sued for insinuating that Pacquiao is into steroids.
Mr Pusey?
Pacman is willing to go testing…
what’s the diff between testing right after the fight?
Pacman will surely win the case. Mayweathers don’t have a single evidence to show on court but loud thick lipped mouth. Can you win a case w/o that? The fact that they can’t force Pacman to take test for an evidence.
$50M on the way i tell you.
you lend credibility to the mayweathers by saying their request is least ridiculous. from a family who are KNOWN CHEATS,LIARS, DRUG ADDICTS, CONVICTS AND TOOTHLESS WOMEN BEATERS.
now there’s your if y certified family of BLACK TRASH.
if blood tests is so good as the USADA touts it to be & can detect drugs 2 mos. to 1 year, then what the hell difference does it make if you do it 30 days fore & aft.
USADA’s been fraternizing so much with GBP that its work is compromized. USADA has been singing GBP’s tune.
floyd asks for an early fight with manny thinking to get an advantage (MP was lumpy and bruised from cotto fight)but manny accepted. he then makes this insinuations. its a ploy to throw manny off his element & a ready excused for his humiliation and beatdown by the pacific typhoon.
The Mayweathers Carry The Burden of Proof
http://www.8countnews.com/news/125/ARTICLE/2173/2009-12-25.html
The boxing community rightnow cant just understand why the Pacman is doing all of this unusual stuff. Lets segregate it: Manny Pacquiao, current P4P king, current IBO/ring magazine junior welterweight champion, current WBO champion of the world, seventh world titles in as much as seven diffrent weight divisions, 2008-2009 fighter of the year, Time magazine man of the year, 2008-2009 athlet of the year, best KO of the year with Hatton (rnd 2), ranked # 13 of the top 25 most influencial people of the world, endorser of nike etc.,local singer and artist(WAPAKMAN now showing),charity movements, and many more….. How about Flambouyant Floyd Jr? Almost all of his acheivements are FORMER! Former five division world champion, fomer P4P champion, undefeated thru cherry picking and known for ducking of opponents, cheating thru disobedience of contracted rules (coming in overweight for advantage purposes), all time braggart/loudmouth athlet of the world, current “O” tilte, and many more.
Now you know why the PACMAN is doing this unusal things?: Conclusion, Manny Pacquiao just want to DICTATE all the terms because he has EVERYTHING and Money Mayweather has absolutely NOTHING at all.. All the mayweathers do is to ENVY and ACCUSE on all the Pacman’s accomplishments. Manny Pacquiao knows Money May needs him very badly and the Pacman doesnt need Money saying “ill fight him for the record” meaning as a seven division world champion is enough for him without Money.
this writer is simply a dumb idiot… make your own research well before writing an article which appears to be written out speculation or imagination.. the article written by dennis “D Source” guillermo says it all.. dont use the issue superstition here because that is not the real issue..after all, manny is willing to submit himself to blood tests but not two or few days before the fight because it weakens his body.. i hope you are not a writer paid by mayweather because if you are then you are one of those cowards on their side.. again, i tell you. your article shows that you are an idiot..in the filipino language, bobo, bogo!!!!!
THE AUTHOR HAS NO COMMON SENSE!
Mr writer please read carefully what Arum said:
“USADA, under its guidelines, would have the right to administer random blood tests as MANY TIMES as they want up to weigh-in day and that is ludicrous.”
emphasis on the number of test and the randomness.. Even if its only a tea spoon of sample is needed, the uneasiness of having it taken unlimtedly and randomly will make you weak, both physical and mental!
Adding to that! Arum also told that Manny is willing take the such blood test from agencies handling NBA, NFL and other pro leagues BUT Golden Boy promotion only wants this amteurish and dela Hoya inclined agency to handle it.
This is stupid!
at the bottom of this issue, i therefore conclude, at any rate, floyd jr and his camp is afraid of manny, period. that is why, they’re playing nonsense words and issues just to keep this fight from happening. sadly, a lot of american writers are taking floyd’s medicine too.
if western people been wondering how manny maintains his everything despite going up in weight, i tthink that is not strange. if you visit any of the indo malayan race, people of manny’s size as average are capable of lifting objects such as sacks of rice, corn, coconut, oil palm, sweet potatoes, even pulling out timber logs. simple winning in boxing is just a cheap labor after all, say 150 pounds. indo malayan race could lift even for the whole day contract. western people should visit malaysia, indonesia and philippines to see it yourself. boxing is no match to our labor.
somehow, i will believe you if manny will be fighting in heavyweights. for sure you will be right
what if they test manny and use a dirty needles and bacteria will get in to manny’s veins will he not get sick. so much better to test manny after the fight
trent pusey, pacquiao’s fairy tale story will not come to tragic end. the law suit will vindicate him.
but there will be a tragic end that is indeed coming….mayweather’s lunacy and arrogance will end!!
manny getting bigger is farthest from the truth. manny since 2006 against morales 1 climbed the ring at 144 lbs. he just gained 4lbs at 148 against oscar, ricky and cotto. manny was fyting at 130 for so long it even caused him to be somewhat drained…hence the jump in weight class and the bigger opponents.
manny did not gain in weight or in muscle since 2006. his strenght, punching resistance, stamina are due to discipline, hard training and not bcoz of any steroid or ped.
Yesterday, December 25, 2009, in the Philippines, Manny Pacquiao had been calling-out Floyd Mayweather, Jr. just as what Floyd had wanted, now the ball is in his hands. His decisions are now being awaited by the fans, he can pass the ball back or he can take the challenge, instead of making Nasty demands. Ooow, come-on Floyd, don”t be a psychological coward… prove to your fans that you are a MAN.
Another thing was that Manny Pacquiao will be suing, both Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Sr., and Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy Promotions for those baseless accusations… que sera sera Floyd Mayweather, Jr.
It is however to my opinion that this bickering is not yet finish, as the saying, “it will not end until the fat lady sings”.
arum mentioned those agencies that do NBA aand NFL because USADA don’t want to change their stand on random testing. team pacquiao wants the 3 schedules which USADA did not agree to.
team pacman is worried the “random” testing will be done while manny is in sparring, sleeping, eating, jogging. ridiculous it myt sound but who knows what will happen!!
what if team floyd has an inside man in the USADA!!!?
Mr. Pusey,
Tell me where and when Pacquiao ever cited not taking the blood tests due to superstition?? Tell me! If you cant find it, its because he never said it! I understand you dont understand Tagalog, but i do and i have never heard him say its due to superstition. You as a writer has a responsibility to your readers all over the world to present your article as clearly and as accurately as possible. Write responsibly or stop writing.
the author’s name should be spelled PUSSY. you people don’t understand a thing about conditioning during or after an athlete’s training session. put that into another perspective on how singers or any top-level celeb/figure preparation before any public appearance…I don’t even need to mention names here…but an excellent counter-serving Agassi did little against the serve+volley strike of Sampras on many occasion, that little Floyd’s defense won’t block Manny’s two-handed offensive if they both fight in the ring (so stop talking Floyd and prove yourself in the ring!)
HEY MR. PUSSY! YOUR POST IS GOOD AS GARBAGE! LAWSUITS ARE COMING!
I’M SORRY FOR THE ARTICLE I WROTE. I’M SUCH AN IDIOT THAT I ACCEPTED THE MONEY GBP & MAYWEATHERS GAVE TO ME JUST TO WRITE A NON SENSE AND BASELESS ACCUSATION TO PACQUIAO.
I WILL RESIGN TO MY JOB BECAUSE I’M A DISGRACE TO MY COMPANY AND A PUSSY TOO.
PUSEY, PacMan is not afraid to take a bloood test. Just not the way the Mayweather’s Wants them.
Get it.
What is so wrong if PacMan takes it “AFTER” the fight?
What a stupid story slant!
Mayweathers can’t believe that there are stuff better than what they “Use and Push”.We are convinced that they are really into something. If Pac is not on roids then what the hell is it?
Come to the Phil. Mayweathers maybe it’s time for you to visit our homeland. We have lots of Manny’s here perhaps more stronger, the reason why we don’t have lots of boxers here is that we don’t believe in it, as a source of living especially in the north side. But because of Manny, we’ll fill Vegas with lots of ‘Em.Top Rank be quick enough for Arum will scoop them all b-4 u knew.
As to the result of Pacquiao/Mayweather fight, Manny will bring the ire and fury of “Mayon” as Cotto tasted the whirlwind of “Ondoy”.
Pacquiao is agreeable to the blood tests except for the random ones. It is understandable because it would be annoying and disruptive of training especially if your not used to it. Also having the blood test right BEFORE or AFTER the fight would just have the same results..Pacquiao is god fearing and is not the cheating type has the right to sue GBP and Floyd SR. cos hes innocent of all accusations.
YOU SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE LIST TO BE SUED BY PACMAN..MR PUSSY!
im glad team pacquiao rejected the USADA testing.. pacman is not invincible! mayweather have the skills to beat the pac but he has to endure a lot of beating first (& stay away from getting knocked-out of his wits)..
i think PBF is not afraid of pacman. i think he has a plan to break mannys game.. jabs, counters & back-pedalling could do the trick.. he aint afraid & for 25mil he will fight godzilla! instead, money is cooking something bigger!
manny will pass the tests, but if PBF wins the bout under the USADA testing (like i said manny’s not invincible), PBF will question pacmans previous victories & will go “i told you dawg, if manny is being monitored he cant do the ‘roids, & without the PEDs in his system he will not win against the bigger opponents! Pacquiaio is a CHEATER & A FRAUD!!”
i say the lawsuit serves them right!!
GBP is a hypocrite… the same testing was asked of Mosley/ Judah fight and GBP refused. Its known that Mosley admitted to taking EPO and that was halted by GBP.. why would I agree if they balked at the same idea for one of their fighters who DID TAKE EPO.. Bullshit
Hey GAYWEATHER “NEGRO”. You should conduct drug testing to your father “NEGRO”. You are a racist “NEGRO”.
and maybe we can also include this writer, MR. PUSEY, in the USADA drug tests together with the mayweather gang.
pacman & floyd start @ 106 & they both now @ 147 & floyd even fighting @ 154lbs.floyd just jealous of pacman coz floyd doesnt knock his opponent out, floyd is just contented w/ his run2x style(BORING style)wer pacmn knock-out almost all his opponent.pacmn is better than floyd ,pusey, admit it.
and for the record, GAYWEATHER, you are an ASSHOLE and a ABSOLUTE CHICKEN COWARD. just sign the contract, and let’s get in on.
the signs of jealousy….. so obvious in Dela Hoya and Gayweathers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Pacman had already agreed to something in order to meet halfway. Then the Mayweather camp said its no deal. So, who’s not looking to go with the fight? If Mayweather is not opting out of the fight, why take the stance on drug testing Non-Negotiable? The party who puts forward that stance is the first party ready and eager to opt out of the negotiations.
In the first place, Mayweather does not have the authority, moral or otherwise, to dictate the terms. In fact, this imposition upon Pacman is merely glorifying a baseless and insulting accusation.
Since an accusation of somebody using steroids as a way to cheat in a boxing match is a legal issue, in as much as the Pacman is already set on filing the appropriate suit, it is now time for Mayweather father and son, and also the Golden Quitter de la hoya to defend themselves in the court.
But back to the imposition of Olympic drug testing, it s important to note that the Pacman had already agreed to concessions and its up to the Mayweather camp to put up a reasonable counter-offer. A contract is to be concluded on mutual terms of both parties, not on their unilateral terms. In the first place, the bout is taking place in Las Vegas and the state already have rules in place relating to drug testing. All the idiotic comments by wannabee medical experts in the internet boxing blogs doesnt matter. We have yet to hear from all the real medical experts to state their take on Mayweather’s and Pacman’s positions on the matter of drug testing.
There are a few reasons boxing fans should consider:
1. When and where did it all start? It started when the Pacman fought Hatton and Mayweather Sr. Before the fight, Mayweather was already insulting the Pacman — he has no skills and his fighter will win because he has the better fighter etc. Then the Pacman makes him eat his sh!t by bludgeoning Hatton in only two vicious rounds.
2. Without any basis for it, the bitter loser in Mayweather Sr came out by saying the Pacman is using steroids, and repeated numerous times. The son joins his father and goes on to belittle the little Pacman by saying he is one-dimensional, lesser skills, and no way Pacman can beat him (Mayweather Jr.).
3. Despite all these statements by both father and son, we did not hear anything from the Pacman except to state for the record, when asked by a reporter, that he wants to fight the self-proclaimed greatest boxer. The only second time the Pacman opened his mouth is Dec. 25 yesterday (its already dec 26 here in Michigan)by saying he will file a defamation suit, that he wants to fight Mayweather Jr in the ring where he (Pacman) can punch back.
If you look at Pacman’s point of view, it’s not about whether he is hiding something as most of us believes he is clean. It is about Mayweather Snr maligning him, his son rubbing it by insisting an unreasonable drug testing. I do not agree to others saying that even if its unreasonable, the Pacman should yield to the demand of the Mayweather camp. The accusations are wrong, and even if the Pacman comes out clean, the damage had been done to his reputation. The Pacman is also entitled to his idiosyncrasies as much as Mayweather is entitled to it.
If Mayweather doubts the integrity of the Nevada SAC, Pacman also doubts the integrity of Mayweather’s chosen agency. If the Mayweathers have honor, so does, and more so, Pacman. If Mayweather has an ego, the Pacman also has it. If Mayweather thinks he is right, Pacman also thinks he is right. The similarities ends here: Pacman wants to fight Mayweather in the ring without much ado. Mayweather? Only those who see the Mayweathers as the Pied Pipers will agree that he is itching to fight the Pacman with no ifs and buts.
THE MAYWEATHERS ARE JUST SIMPLY SCARED!!! PERIOD!!!
Words from Pacman himself:
“Mayweather is just making a way or it’s his strategy for me to get angry; to distract me, or maybe it’s just because he(Mayweather) is just NERVOUS. For me, no problem. If he(Mayweather) wants to fight, then both of us should fight. But, if he is scared, then he should gather enough courage first before he decides to fight me.”
Michael Jordan has a multi-million superstition too. Remember the North Carolina shorts he wears under his Bulls uniform. Don’t be naive every person has superstitious belief. Gamblers has to follow a ritual they believe that makes them lucky. Schaefer is a master of duplicity.
Google Judah-Mosley. De la hoya is a vindictive greedy compulsive liar. Mayweather is the …………..?
This writer is dumb. YOU want to be included on the law suit ashole???? TELL ME COZ IM FORWARD YOUR COLUMN TO MANNY!!!
LET THE BOXING ORGANIZERS DO THEIR
JOB. MAYWEATHER AND PACQUIAO SHOULD RESPECT THE GIVEN RULES. ANYBODY WHO QUESTIONS THEIR CREDIBILITY SHOULD QUIT BOXING ONCE AND FOR ALL. THEY SHOULD NOT
BE DICTATED BY ANYBODY. NOBODY NOBODY BUT THE BODY.
Mr. Pusey!…you’re such a PUSSY!….
You are ignorant!….
mr trent. try to discuss what the pacman wants. to have a blood test immediately after the fight. I repeat, IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE FIGHT! Did you find it ridiculous also! Manny is clean because he is willing to be tested after the fight!!! thats it!
MANNY IS WILLING TO BE TESTED IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE FIGHT!IT IS THE SAME THING WITH WHAT THE MAYWEATHERS WANT! THE TRUTH IS THEY REALLY WANT TO DESTRUCT MANY AND THAT IS WHAT ALL ABOUT!
To: Mr.Pusey
Sir you are misleading your readers with the facts you have written specially Pacman’s weight. The issue here is not superstition, its about discrimination, ethics and sportsmanship.
1. Discrimination – No one should be singled out to take this so called Olympic style test when the prevailing rule does not requires it, If changes should be made then all boxers should undergo that test not just pacman on the behest of an opponent.
2. Ethics – No one has the right to spread accusations or cast aspersions to his fellowman without any proof. Suspicions must be supported by proof before we can accuse if not that is defamation.
3.Sportsmanship – Boxing is a sport and Boxers should act as sportsmen. Sometimes this is forgotten because of “hype” or trash talk to generate interest.
Well, maybe I belong to another era like Pacman.
You miss the point Mr. Trent Pussy. It’s all about giving accusations without evidence at all and changing the rules because you want it to. For example: We are both classmates at a certain school. I am the top student and you are way close to the bottom. You study extremely hard for an exam and eventually ace it. You get a higher mark than I do. So, I accuse you of cheating and demand that you take a totally different exam. Would you? Certainly not. 30 million USD is a lot of money. But a libel, slander, oral defamation suit would probably rake in more cash. The burden of proof lies on the accuser. Smart move by the Pacman. This way, he doesn’t have to do the punching and leave the hitting to the lawyers.
Oh, maybe you forgot Mr. Dick Schaefer not allowing Mosley a drug test even after he confessed to using steroids. What is this crap? No wonder the global economy is in shambles. We have too many bankers with the same quality as Mr. Schaefer. Hypocrites.
gaweather come out do not to scare from manny punch! you know that you will be the next victim of manny once you face him inside the ring. you will become more ugly face from monkey to camel face. come on, floyd. do not make any issue that will prevent facing your responsibilities to show the world who is real pfp#1
You are bloody MORON… it is a matter of PRINCIPLES not a SUPERTITIOUS!!! I will ask you personally… if you are a boxer… would you agree to have blood taken from you the day or before the fight??? YOU are a great PUSSY…
Who is doing drugs here:
From wikipedia.
Jail
Floyd Sr. was convicted for drug trafficking as part of a ring smuggling cocaine in boxes of laundry detergent. He was convicted in 1993 and served a five-year term for his involvement.[2]

I stand by my suggestion that Floyd pays Pacquiao $10-M if tested negative from the
Olympic drug testing and Pacquiao pays him too if found positive. If Floyd wont agree with
the payments, no amateur Olympic drug testing be conducted. Floyd Sr said his son will beat
Pacquiao with or without the steroids so let the blood tests be conducted right after the
fight so as not to distract pacquiao in his preparation. – UBF
DRUG TEST PROCEDURES BEING DEBATED
By Dan Rafael / ESPN.com / December 22, 2009
—————————————————————————————-
The Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather welterweight title megafight, tentatively scheduled for March 13 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, is in jeopardy.
According to Golden Boy Promotions, which is representing Mayweather, Pacquiao refused Tuesday to agree to the Olympic-style drug testing procedures the sides had been negotiating.
Mayweather requested that the drug testing for the fight be in compliance with the United States Anti Doping Agency, which handles drug testing for Olympians, “to ensure fair play and sportsmanship by both fighters.”
Olympic style testing is more rigorous than the drug testing performed by the Nevada State Athletic Commission and other state commissions. It would involve random blood and urine testing before and after the fight. Nevada commission testing only tests urine for banned substances, once just before the fight and once immediately following the fight.
Floyd Mayweather Sr., the fighter’s father, has repeatedly accused Pacquiao of taking illegal substances, even though Pacquiao denies it and he has never failed a drug test.
According to Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer, who is negotiating the deal with Top Rank president Todd duBoef, Pacquiao refuses to have his blood drawn within 30 days of the bout based on his superstition of testing so close to a fight.
“Todd told me that Pacquiao has difficulty with taking blood and doesn’t want to do it so close to the fight,” Schaefer said. “He, Pacquiao, would only agree to have blood drawn before the kick-off press conference and after the fight.”
Two weeks ago, Pacquiao’s trainer, Freddie Roach, told ESPN.com that their side had no problem with Olympic style testing.
“I have no problem with the testing whatsoever,” Roach said then. “They can do whatever kind of drug testing they want. They’re scared of Manny and scared of his power. He’ll pass any test in the world.”
Schaefer said he hoped it was simply a “miscommunication” on the Pacquiao side.
“I do hope it is some sort of miscommunication and that Pacquiao is not even aware of what is going on and he will clear this up and say what is good enough for these great Olympic athletes is good enough for him and Floyd, and he agrees to do these drug tests.
“Team Mayweather is very surprised that an elite athlete like Manny Pacquiao would refuse drug testing procedures which Floyd has already agreed to and have been agreed to by many other top athletes. Why would Pacquiao refuse to have the same kind of testing that Lance Armstrong, Michael Phelps, LeBron James and Kobe Bryant have had?”
Told of Pacquiao’s reluctance to be tested, Mayweather said he should explain himself.
“I understand Pacquiao not liking having his blood taken because, frankly, I don’t know anyone who really does,” Mayweather said in a statement. “But in a fight of this magnitude, I think it is our responsibility to subject ourselves to sportsmanship at the highest level. I have already agreed to the testing and it is a shame that he is not willing to do the same. It leaves me with great doubt as to the level of fairness I would be facing in the ring that night.
“I hope that this is either some miscommunication or that Manny will change his mind and step up and allow these tests, which were good enough for all these other great athletes, to be performed by USADA.”
Said Leonard Ellerbe, a Mayweather adviser, in a statement, “We hope that Manny will do the right thing and agree to the testing as it is an egregious act to deny the testing and hence, deny the millions of fans the right to see this amazing fight. We just want to make sure there is a level playing field in a sport that is a man-to-man contest that relies on strength and ability.
“I still hope this decision is coming from someone in Pacquiao’s camp and not Manny himself as it would be a shame that an athlete of his stature and who represents his whole country would not be able to show the public or his fellow athletes that he agrees to the highest standards in sports competition.”
Top Rank spokesman Lee Samuels said the company declined to comment.
Schaefer said he and duBoef had “worked out all other issues related to the fight,” disclosing to ESPN.com that the fight would be at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, if they can work out the drug testing issue.
“We have agreed on all terms, including the site,” Schaefer said.
The MGM Grand beat out several other interested venues, including Dallas Cowboys Stadium. Team owner Jerry Jones had offered a $25 million site fee, the largest in boxing history, but the promoters took an offer from the MGM Grand, whose terms have not been disclosed.
In addition, Schaefer told ESPN.com that the sides had agreed on an unprecedented penalty if either fighter weighed in heavier than the contract limit of 147 pounds.
“We agreed to $10 million per pound, or fraction thereof,” Schaefer said. “That’s what the Pacquiao side wanted and we said OK to that. That’s unheard of. We have agreed on everything except for this drug testing issue. I have to think Pacquiao is unaware of this. The drug testing had been part of the contract for a while and then they suddenly said no. I was informed of that [Tuesday] morning. Suddenly they changed course and I don’t know why.”
Pacquiao wanted a huge monetary penalty if Mayweather was overweight because he ignored the contract limit of 144 pounds for his September fight with Juan Manuel Marquez, coming in at 146 pounds and paying a $600,000 penalty for the extra advantage.

Yuuuhhhoooooooo, Mr Pusey, whhheeerrrreeeee aaarrreeeee youuuuu?
Team Pacquiao has already hired the best litigating lawyer in Los Angeles who’s known for winning defamation prosecution on behalf of their clients. They are now gathering libelous reports across the internet to build up their prosecution. I am just wondering if somebody has contacted you from Pacquiao’s lawyers of Mesriani Law Group.
Silly writer!!
Very biased…these things separates the credibility of good writers from the rest…A GOOD NOSE FOR THE TRUTH!!
Mayweather is simply destroying the reputation of Pacquiao by asking these steroids check, and this writer cant smell the truth behind it.
Please remember this: EVEN IF THE FIGHT WITH MAYWEATHER WONT PUSH THROUGH….I THINK PACQUIAO WILL VOLUNTARILY TEST HIMSELF COME 2010…TO PROVE ALL WRONG.
Then, we all will know who dodge who in the Pac-Mayweather fight.
All of you Pacquiao fans are just as illiterate as you are passionate. Nowhere in my column did I accuse Pacquiao of taking drugs. Thanks for reading and for making me laugh with all of your comments. I look forward to hearing from all of you again real soon.
Mr. Pusey, Manny doesn’t need Gayweather.. he is the most popular fighter in the planet. And he is also RICH… I tell you FILTHY RICH. YOU SAID 30 MILLION SUPERSTITION, I TELL YOU, THAT DOESN’T MATTER TO PACQUIAO. ALL HE WANTS IS TO SATISFY ALL THE WISHES OF BOXING FANS IN THE WORLD.. AND HE DODGES NOONE. THAT’S ALL HE WANTS TO DO. SO YOU BETTER APPRECIATE PACMAN BECAUSE HE IS DOING ALL THESE THINGS FOR THE FANS. PERIOD…..
