Chavez Jr Tests Positive For Diuretic
By Trent Pusey - December 8, 2009 | Email the author

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr tested positive for Furosemide, a diuretic commonly used in treatment of congestive heart failure and edema, for his Nov 14 fight against Troy Rowland. Chavez Jr fought Rowland on the undercard of the Manny Pacquiao-Miguel Cotto pay-per-view event.

Since Furosemide is a banned substance, Chavez Jr will likely face a fine and suspension. His win over Troy Rowland will also be changed to No Decision. His Nevada suspension will carry over to the rest of the United States, meaning Chavez Jr cannot fight in the United States during the suspension and until he provides a negative urine sample.
