Massachusetts Gov. signs MMA bill, UFC gets green light to Boston
By Nate Lawson - November 30, 2009 | Email the author

Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick signed a bill sanctioning mixed martial arts earlier today. The bill was passed last month by Mass. lawmakers, and the Governor has put on the finishing touches that will send mixed martial arts to the Northeast.

Dana White was thrilled with the news and expressed his excitement via his always entertaining Twitter account.

“Gov Deval patrick just signed the MMA bill in Mass!!! I am so excited words can not decribe! Here we come Boston!! NY is next!!”

The UFC plans to drop into Boston sometime in 2010. This day is clearly a big day for the UFC and Dana White.

While Massachusetts is a large step for mixed martial arts, sanctioning in New York remains to be the grand prize. However, it seems like only a matter of time before the UFC marches into “The Big Apple”.
