Brock Lesnar illness continues, out of UFC 108 championship bout

Brock Lesnar’s elusive illness seems to be hanging around a lot longer than expected.

According to Heavy.com, Lesnar’s fight with Shane Carwin is off the UFC 108 card, after already having been pushed back after the illness sent the Lesnar-Carwin match up off of UFC 106.

Lesnar garnered some negative attention when he was seen at the Minnesota Vikings game after withdrawing from UFC 106. However, the illness seems to be very legitimate, as Lesnar will be unable to participate in the UFC’s year-end show.

UFC 108 has taken an absolute beating the past few weeks. Anderson Silva and Vitor Belfort were supposed to fight for the middleweight championship, but that fight is off. Lyoto Machida and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua were rumored to possibly rematch on the card, but that will not be happening.

The recent news about Lesnar and Carwin having to wait until later in 2010 to fight for the UFC heavyweight belt just shows how far this card has fallen. Will the UFC be able to fill the void? Would you pay for a card headlined by Thiago Silva and Rashad Evans? Chime in below and let your voice be heard.

  4. it seems as if we won’t be seeing what the world has been and is still waiting for fedor vs. brock. and the reason is so obvious. this is of old and it still reigns, money comes before everything. i mean here, we have to of the world greatest fighters and they will never face each other because of promoters bickering. it is not as dania white and others like him would proclaim, “it’s all about the growth and the best interest of mma,” instead they want to stifle the sport with their greed. if this fight is made both sides would make unimaginable profits but that’s not enough, one desires it all. this is the kind of politics that destroyed boxing. if they aren’t careful, the inevitable shall happen, i.e. mma destruction. we the fans and faithful lovers and supporters of mma demand to know who’s the best inside the octagon. we demand this card, before the two or beyond their prime. how awful would it be if this fight happens years from now when one of the two loses something due to age or some unfortunate illness. finally, to the promoters, please put your personal egoes aside, put aside your wanton eyes for over the top profit, what you don’t make today, tomorrow offers another oppertune, please bring these two modern day gladiators together for whom we have so much love and affection. may the competition lives on.

  5. Well, I think that as a fan that is currently recieving education (that means uneducated but with the oh my god need to learn everything about this sport)

I think this will be an interesting time for the UFC. There is always something fresh happening. There is always someone proving us, you, them wrong, right, both!

As someone who has watched from UFC1… things happen, thing go bad, UFC 107 was such a great show, lets not get too greedy!

2010, new talent enetering all the time…it will be a phenomenal year.

And yes I certainly would pay to see the Rashad card! because as we all know the UFC is full of surprises, all the hype and fame in the world cant help you in the ring…..

I dont know about you guys, but the more unknown fighters are my favorite to watch.

    pesimism is a disease ppl!
