Report: Michael Bisping vs. Denis Kang at UFC 105

A tipster has informed Inside Fights that Michael Bisping will meet Denis Kang at UFC 105. However, despite recent reports to the contrary, the fight will not serve as the main event of the evening.

The show, which takes place Nov. 14 in Manchester, England, will be shown live on Spike TV. It was almost guaranteed that Bisping would be one of the headliners for the show, but coming across an opponent for Bisping has been a tough job for UFC matchmaker Joe Silva. They realize that Bisping needs a small “rebuilding” phase after being knocked out by Dan Henderson at UFC 100, and thus didn’t want to give the British Ultimate Fighter star an opponent he couldn’t reasonably handle.

Kang wasn’t the first choice for an opponent, as Bisping’s camp wanted Wanderlei Silva in the fight, but Silva never had any intention of fighting Bisping and didn’t plan on taking any fights at all until January 2010.

Kang is 4-4 in his last eight bouts and has been underwhelming during his UFC performances.
