Carano vs. Cyborg Confirmed for August 15th

Gina Carano vs. Cristiane Cyborg is official for August 15.

Strikeforce is featuring the date on the video display at tonight’s event. Also featured on the card will be Josh Thomson vs. Gilbert Melendez in a rematch.

Carano vs. Cyborg will be the main event of the show, and it’ll be interesting to see how the first female main event in mixed martial arts history does with the fans.

As far as Thomson vs. Melendez this will be a fight that was set to happen at Strikeforce: Shamrock vs. Diaz but was scratched when Thomson broke his ankle in training. In the mean time, Melendez was crowned the interim Strikeforce lightweight champion with a KO victory over Rodrigo Damm.
